CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: SUMMER JOBS FOR STUDENTS

INDO-CANADIAN WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION

We seek a motivated, analytical, team-oriented individual with strong communicative and organizational skills. These are two anticipated full-time fixed-period positions (35 hours per week) for 14 weeks that will begin in May, 2016.

 

Position 1: Office Administrative Assistant:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Creating and maintaining filing and information systems (manual & computerised) 
  • Providing secretarial services for board of directors’ committees
  • Dealing with telephone and email enquiries
  • Sorting and distributing incoming mail and organising and sending outgoing post
  • Photocopying and printing various documents
  • Updating ICWA website
  • Updating ICWA membership database
  • Assisting in arranging in-house and external events
  • Greeting all visitors and inform the appropriate staff members of their arrival
  • Post secondary Student in relevant field of study (e.g. administration/management, business)
  • Between the ages of 18 and 30.
  • A full time student who is intending on returning to studies in the next school year.
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident and eligible to work in Canada

 

Eligible Students must be:

Position 2: Youth Coordinator/ Program Assistance   

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Determining youth needs and requirements, developing activities and identifying resources for meeting their needs
  • Creating youth support group to address community violence 
  • Organizing and facilitating weekly youth group discussions.
  • Preparing a schedule of youth activities and tracking results.
  • Connecting youth with community associations that provide sports, entertainment and community work to youth
  • Collecting feedback from program participants and preparing reports.

 

  • Encouraging participants of the Youth Groups to develop and enhance their leadership skills and life skills.

 

Eligible Students must be:

  • Post secondary student in relevant field of study (e.g. community studies, social sciences, humanities)
  • Between the ages of 18 and 30.
  • A full time student who is intending on returning to studies in the next school year.
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident and eligible to work in Canada
