Celebrating International Day of the Girl Child

The Indo-Canadian Women's Association in association with UAI Global Education is showing the film, It's a Girl. In India, China and many other parts of the world today, girls are killed, aborted and abandoned simply because they are girls. The United Nations estimates as many as 200 million girls are missing in the world today because of this so-called “gendercide.” Shot on location in India and China, It’s a Girl explores the issue. It asks why this is happening, and why so little is being done to save girls and women.

After the film is shown a panel discussion will take place with the director of the film, Evan Grae Davis, Jill McElya of the Invisible Girl Project and Dr. Amy Kaler of the Department of Sociology.
